Adinkra Residences is a small development on a tree-lined turn off Lagos Avenue. Twenty-four homes, four typologies, courtyard at the centre. The building is restrained on purpose. The way it lives is what changes you.
Adinkra is the work of Mensah & Boateng, a four-person studio whose previous building is on the cover of last year's West African Design Annual. Every plan was drawn twice. The site was levelled by hand to save the three older mango trees on it.
We were not interested in another tower. We wanted a building you would be glad to come home to.
Adinkra sits on the quiet side of East Legon, between the embassies and the older villas, ten minutes from the Junction and the airport in light traffic.
