Coffee on the veranda
Pour-over coffee, a small pitcher of cream, the morning paper if you want it. The sun rises behind the main house, so the veranda stays cool.
Five suites. An infinity pool at the lip of the warm Atlantic. Breakfast on bleached teak under a coconut canopy. Nothing here is in a hurry, and that is the whole idea.
Elmina Bay House sits on a private stretch of sand a short drive west of Elmina town. Five suites in a low colonial-era main house, a pool that meets the ocean at the horizon, and a small team who would rather you sleep in than be on time for breakfast. We do not take bookings through Booking.com or Expedia. Just here.

The corner suite with the wide-open Atlantic at the foot of the bed. A four-post wooden frame, a sheer mosquito net, and the slowest ceiling fan you have ever met.

Steps from the pool, with a private cabana day-bed where the second pot of coffee tends to live. Best for honeymooners who do not want to wear shoes.

Tucked against the frangipani garden behind the main house. Quiet, shaded, and a short barefoot walk to the beach. The light gets soft here in the late afternoon.

The room our regulars ask for. A long shared wooden veranda that catches the sea breeze in the afternoon. Perfect for two friends travelling together.

The full first-floor suite of the main house. A private sitting room with a small library, a deep claw-foot tub, and the only desk on the property. For longer stays.

Cut fruit, bofrot, a soft-boiled egg, a tall glass of pineapple juice. We do not call you to the table. You come when you come.
Towels on the cabanas, sunscreen at the bar, no one watching the clock. Most guests start in the pool and end in the sea.
Grilled red fish, jollof, fried plantain, a sharp pepper sauce. Eaten under the coconut canopy. A cold beer if the day is calling for it.
The driftwood lanterns get lit along the sand. A slow walk to where the small fishing boats come back in. The sky goes orange, then rose, then deep blue.
A small set menu on the long wooden table. Conversations that go longer than the meal. Bed when you are ready, not before.
Things to do when you are ready to leave the property. We book all of them in person with people we have known a long time. No commission, no hard sell.
We do not list on Booking.com or Expedia. The number on this page is what you pay. The savings are kept in the building, which is why your towels are this nice.

"We almost didn't leave. The veranda in the morning, the sea in the afternoon, dinner under the bulbs. Two nights was not enough."
"Booking direct felt like a different kind of trip from the start. Personal, generous, unrushed. The kind of place where the host actually meets you at the door."
"My husband and I have stayed at every coastal property between Cape Coast and Axim. This was the best night's sleep we have had in Ghana."
Tell us the dates and the suite. We will hold it for you within a few minutes and confirm with a small MoMo or wire deposit. No booking fees, no surprises.
